Mid-Ohio - Red recap Sept. 26, 2012
North Union extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Ohio - Red this week by beating River Valley, 26-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Highland moved up to 451 from 563 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Fighting Scots were able to make the jump by beating Cardington-Lincoln 34-0.
Buckeye Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Caleb Green threw for 216 and one touchdown and Jack Kelly had 70 yards receiving. On the ground Green chipped in 136 yards. Shawn Free helped Buckeye Valley's passing attack out by catching three balls for 62 yards.
Buckeye Valley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Barons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Green has thrown for 764 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Brad Krueger has 16 catches for 320 yards. Brad Edmonds leads the league in rushing with 376 yards.
Two of the top units in Mid-Ohio - Red will face off this week when the Barons take on Highland. Buckeye Valley's offense has racked up 139 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Chad Carpenter's team has allowed only 112 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Union takes on Elgin. As it stands, Jesse Miller's team is in first, while the Comets are in fourth.
The Fighting Scots took down the Pirates 34-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
