Triad is 0-10 against West Liberty-Salem since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Triad Cardinals will look to defend their home court against the West Liberty-Salem Tigers at 7:15 p.m. Triad will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while West Liberty-Salem is ranked 126th).
Last Monday, Triad suffered a tough 54-34 defeat at the hands of Benjamin Logan. Triad has not had much luck with Benjamin Logan recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Triad saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emma Ferguson, who scored 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Abbey Overfield, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, West Liberty-Salem entered their tilt with Mechanicsburg with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. West Liberty-Salem came out on top in a nail-biter against Mechanicsburg on Thursday and snuck past 39-36.
Triad has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for West Liberty-Salem, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Triad took a serious blow against West Liberty-Salem when the teams last played last Saturday, falling 56-24. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of West Liberty-Salem's Bailey Poppe, who scored 13 points along with six steals.
