Softball Recap: Houston Has No Trouble Against Dixie

Houston had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Dixie on Saturday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Greyhounds. The contest marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season.

Makenna Vondenhuevel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Houston got a massive performance out of Tatum Branscum, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Isabella Shultz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

Houston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Houston's record now sits at 16-7. As for Dixie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Houston will be playing at home against Yellow Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
