The Shell Lake Lakers will head out to face off against the Spooner Rails at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shell Lake will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Webster/Siren on Thursday. The Lakers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 23-0 shutout. The Lakers have beaten the Tigers the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
Whitney Anderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Grace Naessen was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Indy Brown, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Spooner made easy work of Northwestern on Saturday and carried off a 7-1 victory.
Like Shell Lake, Spooner also got a great game from a two-way player: Annalie Lindgren. Throwing, Lindgren pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Devin Danielsen pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. At bat, Lindgren went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Danielsen went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Webster, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
