The Red Mountain Mountain Lions are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Saguaro Sabercats at 12:00 p.m. on December 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Red Mountain is ranked 11th, while Saguaro is ranked seventh).
With a playoff game on the line, Red Mountain rose to the challenge on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over the Broncos. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
IsaiaH Savoie had a dynamite game for Red Mountain, rushing for 144 yards and four touchdowns. Savoie hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Simon Lopez was another key contributor, throwing for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Saguaro had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down Salpointe Catholic 42-24. Saguaro pushed the score to 35-10 by the end of the third, a deficit Salpointe Catholic cut but never quite recovered from.
Red Mountain now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Saguaro, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
