Even though the KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Warriors scored an imposing 62 points on Monday, the Lovett Lions still came out on top. Lovett walked away with a 74-62 victory over KIPP Atlanta Collegiate. Given Lovett's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while KIPP Atlanta Collegiate is ranked 390th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lovett to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Cannon, who scored 20 points. Kingston Whitty was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Lovett now has a winning record of 9-8. As for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovett will square off against Mt. Zion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Business Engineering Science Tech at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Business Engineering Science Tech is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
