Even though the Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes have not done well against the Trico Pioneers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Zeigler-Royalton pulled ahead with a 54-53 photo finish over Trico. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Zeigler-Royalton.
River Freeman was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. Peyton Foster was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Zeigler-Royalton's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Trico, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8.
Zeigler-Royalton will square off against Sesser-Valier at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trico won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Murphysboro at 7:45 p.m. on December 20th. Murphysboro presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Trico in Illinois (Murphysboro is ranked 239th, while Trico is ranked 654th).
