The Pelham Pythons put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 40-21 win over Souhegan. That's another feather in the cap for Pelham, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Sabers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Smith, who picked up 68 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jayden (JJ) Bright was another key contributor, gaining 155 total yards.
Pelham's win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Lebanon and 1-8 Hollis-Brookline (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.9% over those games). As for Souhegan, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pelham will take on Hanover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Souhegan, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Stark. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Hampshire (Stark is ranked 29th, while Souhegan is ranked 17th).
