AAA District 8 recap October 8, 2013
Shelbyville Central took down Franklin County 44-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Golden Eagles led AAA District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 44 points on the Rebels.
August Hill provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lincoln County beat Lawrence County.
Keller Monks and Hill gave the Falcons a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Monks threw for 20 yards and 1 touchdown, while Hill ran for 140 yards. Teammate Ryan Golden added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Hunter Myers of Tullahoma is the league leader in passing yards this season with 984. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyler Eddings. The Shelbyville Central star has 18 catches for 441 yards.
Hill of the Lincoln County is just 82 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 129 carries Hill has accumulated 918 yard this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Jason Hardy's team takes on Don Thomas' team. The Golden Eagles are in fourth place, while the Falcons are in second place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Shelbyville Central takes on Lincoln County. The Golden Eagles have allowed 178 points this season, while the Falcons have given up 165. Shelbyville Central allowed 7 points last week as it bested Franklin County.
The Golden Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,076 from 5,982. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 44-7 victory over the Rebels last week.
