This season hasn't been kind to the Highline Pirates, who are still winless after their fourth match. They had to suffer through a rough 91-64 loss at the hands of Sammamish. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Monday (55), Highline still had to take the loss.
Highline's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Corey Crosby, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Marquawn Mccraney who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Mccraney scored a full 29.7% of Highline's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Marcus Moss was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Sammamish found their leader in underclassman Rakin Showki, who scored 39 points along with five steals. The game was Showki's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Kariuki, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Highline's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Sammamish, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highline will square off against Tyee at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Sammamish is on the road again on Thursday and play against Franklin Pierce at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Franklin Pierce is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61 points per game.
