Dowdy Posts Huge Game in 27-10 Defeat
Starting off the list is Winder-Barrow's Demetrius "Mj" Dowdy, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Dowdy picked up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 153 yards while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 98 yards.
With the defeat, Winder-Barrow broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3. Dowdy and Winder-Barrow will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Clarke Central at 7:30 p.m. on November 1st.

Jackson County Wins Third-Straight Thanks to Josh Mendoza
Jackson County picked up their third consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Josh Mendoza. Mendoza did his part (and then some), picking up three sacks, forcing two fumbles, and making nine total tackles (4.0 for loss) for the 'W'.
This season, Mendoza has averaged 5.8 total tackles per game and for the season has 5 sacks. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had three sacks.

Favian Williford Turns in Season-Best Performance
On Friday, Apalachee had to settle for second even though Favian Williford put up the best numbers he has all season. Williford rushed for 219 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 65 yards.
Apalachee is on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6. Williford and Apalachee will venture away from home to challenge Habersham Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Goddard Came Up Big in Alcovy's 21-10 Victory
Ayden Goddard posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Alcovy moved to 2-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Goddard and Alcovy will square off against Clarke Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Daylan Maxwell Makes It Two for Jackson County
The second Jackson County player making an appearance here is Daylan Maxwell, and for good reason. He rushed for 163 yards.
For the year, Maxwell has averaged 92.1 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.5 rushing yards per game.
