Basketball Game Preview: Woodland Wolverines vs. Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes

The Woodland Wolverines and the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes will compete for holiday cheer at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Woodland will head into Monday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 23) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 69-66 win from a begrudging Wolverines squad. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since December 11, 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodland to victory, but perhaps none more so than JaKease Salley, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards. Salley's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trayvon Tate, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

Meanwhile, Ashley Ridge had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They breezed by the Chargers to the tune of 71-44. The Swamp Foxes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 25 points or more this season.

Ashley Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Woodland, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
