Thornton Academy has gone 8-2 against Sanford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Thornton Academy will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
On Saturday, Thornton Academy got the win against Westbrook by a conclusive 13-2. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Jacob Fish made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fish was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other pitching news, Ben Indorf looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Fullerton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennan Tabor, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Thornton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Sanford and Noble meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Spartans took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly three runs.
Sanford saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hebert, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Thornton Academy pushed their record up to 8-0-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Sanford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
Sanford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Thornton Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. It's a different story for Sanford, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain Thornton Academy's hitters?
Thornton Academy skirted past Sanford 7-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
