Video: 520 yards, 8 touchdowns - Zach Davis (Sheehan, CT)Myles Brennan of St. Stanislaus (Bay St. Louis, Miss.) led the nation in passing yardage as a sophomore and he's making a strong bid to do the same as a junior. His 550 yards passing last week highlight this week's MaxPreps National Football Stat Stars.
Brennan threw for 5,797 yards as a sophomore in leading St. Stanislaus to the Mississippi Class 4A state championship game. With his 550 yards against Lawrence County, Brennan is up to 4,980 yards on the season and has the Rock-a-Chaws back in the state title game against Noxubee County.
Brennan would need 629 yards to move into the national lead. Alex Huston of Glendale (Springfield, Mo.) leads the nation in passing yardage with 5,608 yards. Huston's season is over. Brennan's 550-yard performance was his highest yardage total of the season.
True Divine Word Academy (St. Louis), an independent school that plays other home schools and community school teams, had three players make the list this week. In a 63-36 win over St. Louis HomeTeam, Michael Scott ran for 356 yards while Jericho Holmes caught 12 passes for 225 yards and Brion Duncan threw for 487 yards.
Zach Davis of Sheehan (Wallingford, Conn.) had the second-highest single game rushing total in Connecticut state history with 520 yards on 52 carries against Lyman Hall (Wallingford, Conn.). The state record is 526 yards by Jeremiah Crowley of Montville. Although there is not an official record for rushing attempts in the Connecticut state record book, Davis' 52 carries is the most listed among the top 25 single game rushing yardage performances.
