Page County and Strasburg are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Page County's offense. They fell just short of Madison County by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Mountaineers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Page County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Combs, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Strasburg was able to grind out a solid win over Clarke County on Tuesday, taking the game 6-2. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly four runs.
Peyton Dean looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Britton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Hough, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Strasburg pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Page County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Page County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Strasburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Page County suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Strasburg in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
