On Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Greenwood had to settle for a 56-53 loss against Canyon Lake. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Greenwood came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Canyon Lake is ranked 904th).
Several Rangers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tatum Pierce, who scored 20 points. The game was Pierce's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Ty Presley was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Greenwood has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season. As for Canyon Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenwood will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lake View at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Lake View is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Canyon Lake, they will head out on the road to face off against Davenport at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
