Baseball Recap: Montgomery Gets the Win

Montgomery posted their closest victory since March 1st on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the College Station Cougars 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Cougars last Tuesday, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

Beckam Whiteside looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Montgomery's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drake Cox, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Grant Richardson was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Montgomery's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8-2. As for College Station, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.

Coming up, Montgomery will face off against Rudder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery's pitchers better be ready for this one: Rudder has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for College Station, they will take on Rouse at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
