Gridley is 2-8 against Las Plumas since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Las Plumas will be up against a hot Gridley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Bulldogs blew past Truckee 24-5 on Thursday.

Reese Stevens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Gridley let Avery Mendenhall and Payton Burresch run wild. Mendenhall went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Burresch got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Burresch has posted since back in March. Alexis Alcantar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Gridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Las Plumas got themselves on the board against Live Oak on Friday, but Live Oak never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Las Plumas got a massive performance out of Rylie McInturf, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Adriana Heredia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Las Plumas pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Gridley, their record now sits at 14-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Gridley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Las Plumas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Gridley suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Las Plumas in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
