Roxana has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Olympia Spartans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Roxana knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Olympia likes a good challenge.
Roxana had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 win over St. Joseph-Ogden. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Roxana's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Wells, who rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns. Wells hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Andruw Ellis, who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Another reason for the win was Roxana's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. St. Joseph-Ogden's QB won't forget Sean Maberry anytime soon given Maberry sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Olympia can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 40-20 margin over Greenville. The win was familiar territory for Olympia who now have five in a row.
Zach E Keedy had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 46 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. E Keedy was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards.
Roxana pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Olympia, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
