The Alexander Cougars entered their tilt with the East Paulding Raiders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Alexander came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 46-35 on Friday. Given Alexander's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Raiders are ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alexander's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Italiano, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nimah Ibidunni, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Alexander is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for East Paulding, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexander will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: McKayla Taylor and Ibidunni. As for East Paulding, they will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas County is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
