Basketball Recap: Johnsburg Central Comes Up Short

Johnsburg Central easily dispatched Warrensburg last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Johnsburg Central Jaguars fell just short of the Indian Lake Central/Long Lake Central Orange by a score of 44-42 on Friday. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Orange apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Johnsburg Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nick Sauer-Jones dropped a double-double on 21 points and 24 rebounds. The match was Sauer-Jones' third in a row with at least ten points. Eli Morin was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Johnsburg Central now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Indian Lake Central/Long Lake Central, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Johnsburg Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-31 victory against Sharon Springs Central on the 4th. As for Indian Lake Central/Long Lake Central, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Placid at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th.
