Liberty hasn't had much luck against Basic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Wolves at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Liberty took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Silverado. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Skyhawks: they've now won six in a row.
Liberty got a great performance from Dylan Moehring as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Moehring has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grant Kelly, who fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 10-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Austin Pepe, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Liberty lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Basic faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wolves skirted past the Aggies 4-2.
Derek Wenzel looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Ace Sapp was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andruw Giles, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Liberty now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Basic, their record is now 12-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Liberty hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Basic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Liberty couldn't quite get it done against Basic in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 as they fell 8-4. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
