Basketball Game Preview: Lennard Longhorns vs. Robinson Knights

The Lennard Longhorns will square off against the Robinson Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lennard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.

Lennard took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They breezed by Freedom to the tune of 80-53.

Lennard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nate Montalvo led the charge by going 7 for 15 on his way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Montalvo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Edgar Delvalle, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Lennard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Robinson came up short against Bloomingdale on Monday and fell 57-44. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 617th, while the Bulls are ranked 240th).

Lennard pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points per game. As for Robinson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Lennard, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-50 loss to Robinson in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Lennard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
