After a string of six wins, the Clayton Comets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to United Faith Christian Academy 72-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Clayton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Justice Mitchell, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Andrew Grimes who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Grimes is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Qua'shaun Williams, who scored six points.
Clayton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for United Faith Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton will take on Corinth Holders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Corinth Holders is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for United Faith Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Hills Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Hills Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 310th, while United Faith Christian Academy is ranked 22nd).
