Softball Recap: Plant's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After a string of four wins, Plant's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Alonso Ravens by a score of 7-6. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Ravens earlier this season, when they won 18-0.

Gigi Cozzens was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kate Compton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Medina, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Plant's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Alonso, their record now sits at 2-4.

Looking ahead, Plant will square off against Lennard at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lennard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season. As for Alonso, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against King at 10:00 a.m.
