The West Charlotte Lions had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 54 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 victory over Weddington. The victory was all the more spectacular given West Charlotte's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Weddington is ranked 101st).
Chakira Generette continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Paige Bowman, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Weddington's loss came despite strong showings from Bailey Page and Caroline Clark. Page dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Clark scored 12 points along with three steals. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Motto, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

West Charlotte won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Salisbury at 11:30 a.m. on December 22nd. Salisbury has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 252 points over their last four matches. Weddington won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Palisades at 1:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Hopefully Palisades focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday.
