In what's become a running theme this season, the Wesley Chapel Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 72-42 win over Cypress Creek. The victory was just what Wesley Chapel needed coming off of a 58-23 loss in their prior game.
Wesley Chapel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayla Christopher, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanai Forrester-Jhagroo, who scored 21 points.
Despite the defeat, Cypress Creek saw an underclassman step up: Carinne Washington scored 18 points along with three steals. Ava Wyatt was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Cypress Creek struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Wesley Chapel pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Wesley Chapel's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Cypress Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesley Chapel will take on Land O' Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress Creek won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tarpon Springs at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Tarpon Springs is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
