7A District 9 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Deangelo Reaves of St. Petersburg ran for the longest rushing play in 7A District 9 this season against Seminole last week. Reaves' team defeated the Warhawks as he sprinted for 70 yards on the play and finished with 121 in all.
Countryside extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Clearwater, 44-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Anthony Woods was the best wideout in the league this week as St. Petersburg beat Seminole. Woods tallied two receptions for 49 yards.
Robby Hicks put up the best numbers through the air as Countryside bested the Tornadoes. He finished with 13 completions for 104 yards and one touchdown. Hicks' favorite target this week was Joe Ganci, who caught four passes for 36 yards.
Northeast's Ryan Davis and Keith Harrington have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 7A District 9 in both passing and receiving yards. Davis has thrown for 1129 yards this season, while Harrington has 19 catches for 425 yards. Jared Davis' team's Mike Jerrido leads the league in rushing yards with 586.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Pinellas Park takes on the Cougars. The Patriots have allowed 108 points this season, while Countryside has given up 72.
Pinellas Park moved up to 122 from 162 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Patriots were able to make move up by defeating the Vikings 35-14.
