Softball Recap: Forest Park Comes Up Short

Forest Park lost against Barr-Reeve back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rangers fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 12-11. Even though they lost, the Rangers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.6 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Claire Warren and Kaitlyn Randle stepped up to the plate in a big way. Warren went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Randle went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mollie Combs, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Forest Park now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Barr-Reeve, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Forest Park will take on Tecumseh at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Rangers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Barr-Reeve, they will face off against Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
