Basketball Recap: Woodruff Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

There's no place like home for Woodruff, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on the Union County Yellowjackets with a sharp 61-40 victory on Friday. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Woodruff to victory were Jordan Robinson and Sadie Burnette. Robinson went 7 of 17 on her way to 19 points and six steals, while Burnette posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. Robinson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kara West, who put up six points and six steals.

Woodruff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Woodruff's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Union County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodruff will head out to challenge Broome at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County has already played their next contest (against Mountain View Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
