Heritage had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-7 to make it five. They fell just short of the Mountain View Thunder by a score of 8-7. The Timberwolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Thunder earlier this season, when they won 5-3.
Jaila Ellis was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. Ellis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Skyler Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Thomas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 5-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Heritage since May 4, 2021.
On Mountain View's side, Peyton Lalande spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Emily Palomino was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Reive, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coincidentally, Heritage and Mountain View will both be playing Kelso the next time they take the field. The Timberwolves will head out to face the Hilanders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Thunder will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
