The Dexter Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 81-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mattanawcook. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Dexter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Doherty, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Doherty has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kody Kimball, who scored 21 points.
Dexter has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Mattanawcook, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Penquis Valley the next time they take the court. Dexter will head out to face Penquis Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Mattanawcook will head out to face them at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
