Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's Stephen Bendele rumbled for the longest rushing play in VISFA Virginia Commonwealth this season in his game against Brunswick Academy last week. Bendele's team topped the Vikings as he sprinted for 86 yards on the play and finished with 131 in all.
Isle of Wight Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Broadwater Academy, 33-20. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Chargers.
Bendele and Ethan Johnson gave Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Bendele threw for 157 yards and three touchdowns, while Johnson ran for 135 yards.
Tyler Kirby was the best wideout in the league this week as Kenston Forest beat Quantico. Kirby tallied eight receptions for 107 yards. Akeem Lee-Myers helped Kenston Forest's passing attack out by catching one ball for 36 yards.
Brice Fritts' team's Bendele and Robby Baxter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading VISFA Virginia Commonwealth in both passing and receiving yards. Bendele has thrown for 646 yards this season, while Baxter, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 17 catches for 275 yards. Matt Brummett from Isle of Wight Academy leads the league in rushing with 709 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Kavaliers take on Brunswick Academy. Kenston Forest is in fourth place, while Dennis Moore's team is in second place.
Sammy Gee's team took down the Warriors 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mason Phipps threw for 89 yards and one touchdown and ran for 14 yards in the win.
