The CORE Butte Lynx had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Bethel Christian with a sharp 65-45 win on Wednesday. The win was just what CORE Butte needed coming off of a 62-39 loss in their prior matchup.
Despite the loss, Bethel Christian still got an impressive performance from Braden Johnson, who scored 31 points. Those 31 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Mulieri, who scored five points.
CORE Butte's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7. As for Bethel Christian, they bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. CORE Butte will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Paradise Adventist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. After both having extra time off, Bethel Christian and Westwood will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
