Two dominant guards in Jordan Harding and Mariah Jones-Bey are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Woodlawn Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Pikesville Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Woodlawn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Pikesville is ranked 21st).
Last Wednesday, Woodlawn earned a 50-40 victory over Owings Mills.
Meanwhile, Pikesville had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They beat Hereford by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 53-42.
Pikesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jones-Bey, who scored six points along with nine assists and four steals. Jones-Bey has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tykeisha Hill, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Woodlawn is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Pikesville, their victory was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3.
Woodlawn was dealt a bruising 69-16 defeat at the hands of Pikesville when the teams last played back in January of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Woodlawn was down 42-5.
