Douglas County West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Strong led the charge by going 7 of 10 on her way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Strong a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ella Wiese, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and three steals.
Strong wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Douglas County West was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Conestoga challenged Palmyra on Tuesday. Conestoga lost 64-38 to Palmyra. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Douglas County West will need focus on slowing down Grace Rodis, one of several Conestoga players who made an impact when they last played. She posted ten points and three steals. Rodis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayla Garrett, who earned nine points and five boards.
Conestoga's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Douglas County West, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Douglas County West has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Conestoga struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Douglas County West against Conestoga when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 76-34 win. Will Douglas County West repeat their success, or does Conestoga have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
