Davis and the Lancers are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Davis Darts will head out on the road to take on the Layton Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Davis comes in on four and the Lancers on seven.
On Friday, Davis earned a 52-45 victory over the Silverwolves.
Davis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tradon Bessinger led the charge by scoring 11 points. Bessinger is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Ike Morgan, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, even though Syracuse scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Layton still came out on top. Layton snuck past the Titans with a 65-60 victory. Given Layton's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Titans are ranked 55th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Davis is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Layton, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Davis couldn't quite finish off the Lancers in their previous meeting back in January and fell 72-70. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Layton's David Katoa, who scored 22 points along with five blocks. Now that Davis knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
