The Lexington Minutemen won the last time they faced the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones, and things went their way on Saturday too. Lexington breezed by Cornerstone Christian at home to the tune of 64-30. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lexington.
Despite the defeat, Cornerstone Christian saw an underclassman step up: Hope Lehman scored 16 points. Lehman scored a full 53.3% of Cornerstone Christian's points, the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Hughes, who scored 14 points.
Lexington has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Lexington will play host again and welcome Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, where tip off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lexington in Illinois (Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley is ranked 141st, while Lexington is ranked 373rd). As for Cornerstone Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against East Peoria at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
