The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Ben Lomond Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gunnison Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Gunnison Valley came up short against Bryce Valley and fell 40-33. Gunnison Valley has struggled against Bryce Valley recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Linsi Hansen, who scored six points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Rylee Bartholomew, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Ben Lomond scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maeser Prep Academy 68-29 on the road. The win was some much needed relief for Ben Lomond as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
It was another big night for Jazzy Tinajero, who scored 17 points along with seven steals and six assists. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Aniyah Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Gunnison Valley bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Ben Lomond, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Gunnison Valley have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Ben Lomond, though, as they've been averaging only 32.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
