The Chambers Academy Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 62-40 defeat at the hands of Springwood. While losing is never fun, Chambers Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Springwood is ranked 29th).
Springwood was led to victory by Daniel Westbrook and Micah Thomas. Westbrook dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Thomas scored 24 points along with 5 steals. The match was Thomas' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Greg Johnson, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Chambers Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Springwood, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Chambers Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Edgewood Academy at 3:00 p.m. on December 18th. As for Springwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Lakeside School at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
