Cozad extended the longest winning streak in C1 District 9 this week by beating Gothenburg, 34-9. The victory was the 11th in a row for the Haymakers.
Cozad led the league in scoring this week after putting up 34 points on the Swedes. Jake Paulsen ran for 222 yards in the win.
Brian Cargill's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nate Bubak threw for 12 and 1 touchdown and Conor Young had 12 yards receiving. On the ground Paulsen contributed 222 yards.
The Haymakers' dynamic duo of Bubak and Young proved to be unstoppable against Gothenburg, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Paulsen was a beast in the backfield as Cozad defeated Craig Haake's team.
Paulsen provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Haymakers topped the Swedes.
Kearney Catholic's John Masker and Blake Holtmeier led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Masker has thrown for 912 yards this season, while Holtmeier has 28 catches for 543 yards. Paulsen from Cozad leads the league in rushing with 2,086 yards.
The Haymakers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 711 from 944. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 34-9 victory over Gothenburg last week.
