Madesyn Meadows made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Verdugo Hills let Lauren Brink and Megan Brink run wild. Lauren went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple, while Megan went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits Lauren has posted since back in May of 2025.
Verdugo Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Kennedy hit Chavez with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Cougars. The Eagles have struggled against the Golden Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Jordan Billingsley was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run.
Chavez now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Verdugo Hills, their record now sits at 10-8-1.
Chavez's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Verdugo Hills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chavez, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Verdugo Hills keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Verdugo Hills might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Chavez in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
