Colquitt County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in AAAAAA Region 1. Earlier in the week, the Packers triumphed over Tift County 49-7.
Coffee suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after losing to Camden County. The Trojans had been ranked 25th, but fell to 26 following the defeat.
Coffee's dynamic duo of Keegan McGovern and Brandon Roe proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McGovern threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns and Roe had 52 yards receiving. Jalen Wilkerson helped Coffee's passing attack out by catching two balls for 40 yards.
J.j. Green was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 98 yards on seven carries as Camden County fell to Camden County. Kalvaraz Bessent also contributed to the rushing game with 74 yards on the ground.
On the ground, Lowndes's Nick Burgman has rushed for 405 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bobby Hill. The Colquitt County star has 25 catches for 368 yards.
A big matchup in AAAAAA Region 1 this week will be when the Vikings take on Valdosta. As it stands, Lowndes is in first, while the Wildcats are in fifth.
The Vikings extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Brunswick, 52-8. The win marks sixth in a row for the Lowndes.
