Buckfield hasn't had much luck against Richmond recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bucks are taking a road trip to square off against the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m.
Buckfield lost 10-4 to Telstar on Wednesday. The Bucks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Buckfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Krosby Harvey, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Austin Verrill also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Richmond strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Old Orchard Beach with a sharp 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Cale Harrington was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Steele, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Richmond was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Richmond's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Buckfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Buckfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Buckfield suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Richmond in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Bucks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
