The West Nassau Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to First Coast at home by a decisive 64-45 margin. West Nassau was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as First Coast apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why West Nassau lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tru Armstrong. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points. Morgan Middlebrooks was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
First Coast was led to victory by Sha'niah Bennett and Lauren Maitland. Bennett dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Maitland scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Maitland pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Halima Saad, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
West Nassau has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for First Coast, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
