First Baptist Christian has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Brighton Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Louisiana (First Baptist Christian is ranked 273rd, while the Bengals are ranked 287th).
In what's become a running theme this season, First Baptist Christian gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Open Door Christian Academy 56-27 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for First Baptist Christian considering their 22-point performance the game before.
Meanwhile, Brighton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 73-37 loss at the hands of Faith Training Christian Academy. Brighton has not had much luck with the recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Brighton saw an underclassman step up: Davis Wolfe scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole McCurry, who scored no points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
First Baptist Christian's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Brighton, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Things could have been worse for First Baptist Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-42 loss to the Bengals in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can First Baptist Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
