The biggest upset of the week belonged to Gibbs, who took down 262nd ranked Gibbs, 14-12.
Jesuit's Kevin Newman rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A District 8 this season in his game against Spoto last week. Newman scampered for 66 yards on the play and finished with 270 on the day as his team defeated the Spartans.
Jesuit's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Leland Saile threw for 83 yards and Reggie Brown had 56 yards receiving. Travis Johnson helped Jesuit's passing attack out by catching two balls for 23 yards.
Javon Kitchen made the biggest impact on defense this week as Blake lost to Robinson. The 6-foot-1 senior grabbed one interception and racked up one sack.
On the ground, James Harrell's team's Newman has rushed for 544 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Johnson. The Jesuit star has 14 catches for 233 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lakewood takes on the Gladiators. As it stands, the Spartans are in second, while Gibbs is in fourth.
Dunedin moved up to 277 from 318 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 8. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of a 14-12 win over Antonio Knox's team.
