Christine Chmiel spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Vivianna Lara, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Wheaton Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rosary on Saturday. The Warriors were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Royals. That 14-run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.
Kyla Dieter made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Dieter was even better at the plate, going 5-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Olivia Stary was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. Emily From was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Wheaton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. They are 4-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Marian Central Catholic's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Wheaton Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Wheaton Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marian Central Catholic has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Wheaton Academy, though, as they've been averaging 11.4 hits. Given Marian Central Catholic's sizable advantage in that area, the Warriors will need to find a way to close that gap.
