Basketball Recap: Carrollton Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

A well-balanced attack led Carrollton over Nokomis in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. The Carrollton Hawks took down the Nokomis Redskins 63-45. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 43-38 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Carrollton had a senior duo take command as Lauren Flowers dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards and Megan Camden made all 8 shots she took to post 16 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Camden has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Mcmurtrie, who posted 11 points.

Carrollton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 27 consecutive matches.

Nokomis lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Natalie Brownback, who earned ten points and three steals. Brownback is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Dewerff, who put up nine points.

Carrollton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Nokomis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-5.

Carrollton and Nokomis should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Carrollton will take on West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 185 places (94 vs. 279). Carrollton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. Similarly, Nokomis (ranked 160th) will meet Sangamon Valley/Tri-City (ranked 643rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
