Basketball Recap: Kylie Nelson Key Part of a Team Effort in Red Hawks Win

On Friday, the Hiawatha Red Hawks didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy Ravens, but they still walked away with a 42-37 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Hawks.

Hiawatha's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylie Nelson, who posted 13 points. Nelson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Adison Williams, who had nine points and five rebounds.

Hiawatha smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Hiawatha now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Hiawatha didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-38 victory against Sabetha on the 17th. As for Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Atchison County at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
